The Scream

Born in Moscow, Vlada Dronova graduated with a BFA in ceramics and printmaking from California College of the Arts. She has exhibited her sculptures at California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art in Davis and American Craft Council Show, Fort Mason Center, San Francisco. Her collaborative effort in ceramics was reviewed in KCRW Design & Architecture and Handful of Salt magazines, and included in the American Museum of Ceramic Art 2016. Having never experienced so many homeless people in Russia, she noticed that locals "see" the homeless in San Francisco as inanimate fixtures or architectural elements. As a way to challenge the viewer to look more closely, she makes sculptures of sleeping bags that appear empty, capturing only silhouettes of the homeless bodies.
