Excerpt from Oceanography Log







Nance O'Banion is a fifth generation native to the San Francisco Bay Area with degrees from UC Berkeley in Art and a Professor at the California College of the Arts (since 1974). Her recent autobiographical work called Oceanography Log, started in May 2014, is a series of 7” x 5” black and white scratchboard panels which focus on recording daily life experiences through an emotional, psychological and symbolic lens. Life, death and illness are the basis of the panels inspiring the artist to make work every day. As of December 2014 there were over 200 in the group.
