Procedures


When I turned twelve, Mother confessed she’d wanted a “procedure.” For years, I thought of life as procedures, aborting girlfriends. Writing. Then I discovered piano, fingers cascading over ivory seas, conjuring love. Heartbreak. I made people cry, laugh, until we couldn’t tell the difference, trying to find our way home.







Mir-Yashar Seyedbagheri currently attends Colorado State’s MFA program in fiction. His short-stories have been published or are forthcoming in various literary journals including Monkeybicycle and Crack The Spine.
