Solace

my foot
touching
his muscular calf
tethered
in the night
like sea otters
holding hands in sleep
so they don’t drift apart
we cling
in subtle ways
for lesser reasons
nightmare rescues
reassurance
to recognize
we’re
not
alone
in the vast
sea of life
