Communication: “Eta Nevazhna”

I was about to ask her name, but a man tapped my shoulder. “She – mine,” he said in Russian.

I sighed.

I typed “never mind” into Google Translate. I told him verbatim what the translator told me: “Eta nevazhna.”

I turned back, and he seized me by the throat.

I swung my fist at his head. Strangers grabbed both of us. They threw us out of the club.

Later, I learned what I really said was “it doesn’t matter.”
